About v.1

What is Next Read?

NextRead is a blog on reading though occasionally it slips into film, TV and the craft of writing. Here you’ll find news, reviews, comments and features on books and writers that interest me and I hope that they’ll interest you. It is a reflection of my tastes, biases and preferences. Is that unfair? Not really. You get an honest opinion from my point of view.

This site also contains the 2007 archive from gavsstudio (where I blogged about books for a year) just so you don’t miss anything. So if some of the internal links that’s why (I’d love to fix them but it might drive me insane to try).

What types of books do you talk about?

If you’ve had a chance to look around you’ll see that it’s mainly speculative fiction. I’m not averse to more literary works but it’s better if they have some sort of twist like Rant by Chuck Palahniuk or Resistance by Owen Sheers.

Who is gav?

That would be telling! Though I do have some experience of both sides of the book coin. I have a degree in Creative and Professional Writing and I spent two years reading thousands of submissions for a small independent publisher.
