Vote & Help! What do you think I should have read by 1st July?

This is not one of those IMM posts – though they are books that have appeared in the post since January. Some I’ve bought but most are sent to be considered for review. What always surprises me is that direction that is offered from new titles. They don’t feel the same by any means. In fact I would go far as saying you could read any of the books below and not feel I’ve read a samey book for months.

Anyway, my reading is loosely locked for this month and for June with NeXXtRead Month (focusing on the ladies of genre). Though I might be able to squeeze in 3 more.

So I’m giving you all a choice. Can you help me choose three books that I should read from now until July? It’s easy I’ll read the three books that get highest number of requests in the comments. And please do say if there is any I shouldn’t be reading or any you want to read!

The ones I most want to read, probably because I know the most about them from the above are, The Reapers are the Angels, The Desert Spear, Retribution Falls, Anansi Boys, Wolfsangel. Top 3 – Desert Spear, The Reapers, and Wolfsangel

Well, there are a tonne of gorgeous books in that pile. Plenty there I’d like to be reading. I would have to recommend you definitely read the David Mitchell title though. I’ve read all his material to date apart from this latest and think he’s an absolute genius. A very unusual writer.

I noticed the Karen Rose title as well. Are you a fan? I have one of hers in my TBR pile. Not looked at it yet. Would you recommend?

Go for the David Mitchell. It’s not exactly easy-going but it’s a remarkable novel if you can stomach it. Also… Wolfsangel and Under the Skin? Yeah, I think so.

I didn’t like the Michel Faber, although I’m apparently in a minority on that. I’d suggest the Meaney, Wooding and Pullman.

I like to see what you think of Retribution Falls, The World House, and The Prince of Mist.

    Retribution Falls
    Our Tragic Universe
The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ

    Done.

I vote for David Mitchell too, that or George Mann. I’m really interested in both, thanks. :)

Look at all those lovely books…! Especially the Gollancz ones…
I’d recommend M.D. Lachlan and Gavin Smith – would be interested in reviews of them.

Of course, if you’d like help with some of them…

Hey. I was looking over your list of books you may read soon. I own some books by some of the authors on the list.
~ Peter V. Brett: I have The Warded Man at home, high up on my To Read Soon list.
~ I’ve read 2 books by John Connolly, but neither are in his Charlie Parker series. I read The Book of Lost Things and The Gates. Both I’d highly recommend. At home I have Every Dead Thing, the first of his Charlie Parker books. Looking forward to that.
~ Scarlett Thomas: I read PopCo by her. Was just okay.
~ Neil Gaiman: I love some of his books and have been bored by others. For instance: I put down American Gods half-read.

But of all the books you list, the 3 I’d vote for are:

~ Guy Adams’ The World House
~ George Mann’s Ghosts of Manhattan
~ David Mitchell’s The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet

I looked through the books you have listed here and the first 2 I picked because I am curious as to what you think of them. I have the first on my list to get and would like to hear your review on it, and the second I am very curious about. I don’t have it on the list but have looked at it a few times and thought on getting it. The third pick is just out of curiosity.
    ~Retribution Falls By Chris Wooding
    ~Hood By Stephen R. Lawhead
~The Reapers Are The Angels By Alden Bell

Thank you and hope you enjoy your wins. :)

too much choice made my eyes go squiffy! I’d like to read Retribution falls, Desert spear and The good man jesus and the scoundrel christ.. Surely all the sequels are easier to choose from than the newer stuff?
