Firstly, The Stone-Cutter review is being moved to Sunday as again my time management skills fail me. But I’d rather get it right than rush it.
I am though using the ReadMore iPhone app to try and work out my reading speed and to keep track of my reading and I think I’m a page a minute reader but we’ll see as I read more books. If that’s the case I’m going actually plan how much time it’s going to take to read a book by taking a couple of samples reading sessions and a bit of maths.
Speaking of reading next month (May) is a theme month on NextRead and the theme:
Short Stories
The plan is simple. I’m going to pick up random collections of short stories both single and whole collections and review individual shorts.
I’m also hoping that a few other people will add their own reviews. I’m considering a sticky post so people that can add their own reviews in the comments and dragging in some fans of the form (I’ve got a couple of people lined up already with some diverse reads)
And as we know me and future planning doesn’t seem to work but if at first you don’t succeed try and try again.
So July June is going to be:
NeXXTRead month – celebrating the ladies of genre fiction.
I have an ever growing pile of women writers that I haven’t given reading time to and I thought it was a good way of looking getting stuck in to the TBR. I have Carrie Ryan, Pamela Freeman, Kate Griffin, Marianne De Pierres, Fred Vargas, Elizabeth Moon, Scarlett Thomas, Kit Whitfield, Karin Fossum, Kelly Link, Imogen Robertson and Glenda Larke to give you some ideas of that I’ve got to look forward to.
And after that I’m not sure. I don’t think it’s good to plan too far ahead. I have some series to finish and I have a few debuts. I might do some Focused Fortnights… that might be fun.
So anyone else got any plans for their reading over the next couple of months?
