Good to see Mike Carey in the top ten. A series which somehow manages to get better with each book. Quite like the look of Nights of Villjamur so will give that a read in 2010. And tempted with The Domino Men as well.

Oh god, don't read Stephen King in that case then – he's graphic and the horror isn't spooky as such but very haunting non the less.

Plenty here to get our teeth into. Thanks for the steers. Shall make a New Year's Resolution to spend more time reading and I shall use you as a guide. Not sure about the Stephen King though. I'm terrified of horror films and try not to watch them. I'm sure a horror novel would be way, way too much for me.

Great list. I totally agree about Under the Dome, although I went for the US version which ends up at 1100 pages due to a more space typography.

Funnily enough, I'm now in the middle of Mythago Woods! First time I've read it, and so far it's great - spooky and odd.

Interesting. I didn't read one of your Top Ten books. Under The Dome is on my list for 2010.
But I read several Dresden Files and I agree they are comfort reads.
And I read both of your debut reads.
My book of the year is BONESHAKER by Cherie Priest.
