Update: Reading and books

Today’s planned schedule got shelved due to well shelving. Or a rearrangement of the books and trying to get some of the books off the floor, desk etc and back where they belong. The only trouble is that the shelves are occupied by other by other books. So I had to go out and get some clear storage boxes and archive some.

It’s not something I like doing. It means making choices. And in this case it involved deciding if I was going to read, reread or want to see the spine of my current collection to free up room. The good thing with clear boxes is that I can still see the spines so I can find a book if I need it.

Apart from a few stragglers the bookcases are organised and and tidy again. I’ll take some pics tomorrow if you’re interested?

So that’s the reason why I’ve not completed writing the reviews for The Gabble and other stories by Neal Asher and This Is Not A Game by Walter Jon Williams. Both excellent and both are going to be a challenge to review. In the case of Gabble it’s because there is so much packed in there and TINAG because it really got into my brain and gave me strange dreams.

I’ve started Twelve by Jasper Kent. Then  A Madness of Angels is going to be straight after.

Ummm did I mention I bought Faceless Killer by Henning Mankell, The Murder Farm by Andrea Maria Schenkel and The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (this last one from Wend’s excellent comment). The first two are thin so I might try and make a session out of them in between fantasy.

The other thing I’ve not done is selected this weeks Promo’s. I have an idea but anyone want me to mention anything that I might have missed?

  • Yes, you are right.

Not meant in this context, I know, but love the picture "well shelving" is putting in my head. Go spelunking for books much, eh? LOL

I'm definately buying A Madness of Angels and I did pick up Twelve but put it back. Not sure if I can handle too much of the historical time period it's set in; or more like I get afraid it'll be all about the infodumps rather than story. So, I look forward to see what you think about it, and whether the time period works.
