I love Cloud Atlas but Mitchell can do little wrong in my view. I liked The Road, although it’s very different from other Cormac McCarthy novels. But my unexpected find was Faber’s Under the Skin which I chanced upon last year and went into my Top Ten Reads of 2008!

Plus, I enjoy these lists as I’m nosey about other peoples reading habits *grins*

Angela Carter’s work is amazing. Though I haven’t studied her novels through school/academia etc., I can reread her stuff umpteen times and come away fulfilled. She packs so much in few pages … every sentence, and especially every word, counts. She taught me so much about vocabulary when younger ). I just love that. A wordsmith with huge ideas/themes/symbolism who is truly missed!

As an aside I’m curious who put Night in the Circus on the list. I loved reading Angela Carter for A-Level and I’m wondering if her popularity is going to fade away before long…
