    Thanks for sharing this. I love lists. I've read about 25 of these, which is more than I thought I would have read when I started counting. I don't think I would have classified some as fantasy / SF at the time, but I guess they have something a little odd about them.

    I love Cloud Atlas but Mitchell can do little wrong in my view. I liked The Road, although it's very different from other Cormac McCarthy novels. But my unexpected find was Faber's Under the Skin which I chanced upon last year and went into my Top Ten Reads of 2008!

    Thanks for sharing this. I love lists. I've read about 25 of these, which is more than I thought I would have read when I started counting. I don't think I would have classified some as fantasy / SF at the time, but I guess they have something a little odd about them.

    I love Cloud Atlas but Mitchell can do little wrong in my view. I liked The Road, although it's very different from other Cormac McCarthy novels. But my unexpected find was Faber's Under the Skin which I chanced upon last year and went into my Top Ten Reads of 2008!

    Angela Carter's work is amazing. Though I haven't studied her novels through school/academia etc., I can reread her stuff umpteen times and come away fulfilled. She packs so much in few pages ... every sentence, and especially every word, counts. She taught me so much about vocabulary when younger :o). I just love that. A wordsmith with huge ideas/themes/symbolism who is truly missed!
