News: Sony Reader Sales Figures
If you haven’t figured it out by now I’m a bit of a geek on the side. I love my tech so you’ll have to forgive me for going on about the Sony Reader again. I’m also getting to be a big fan of twitter – a great way of keeping up to date.
I found an interesting tweet from simon_saysUK reporting sales figures from Waterstones for the Sony Reader in the UK.
It sold almost 30,000 units, which I’d argue ain’t that bad for something that’s new concept and I’m thinking ebooks on a handheld rather than ebooks themselves.
I don’t think, as I’ve probably said before, it’s not going to replace the paper-based book but there is definately a market for it.
Some things that might help sales is stuff like the having e-releases before traditional release dates, extras like short stories, intereviews, and just other little additions to make them a little special.
So well done to Sony, Waterstones and all the publishers for having a good co-ordinated campaign. I’d say it was pretty succesful.
