Promo: Twelve by Jasper Kent (Bantam)

I just saw the cover of Twelve by Jasper Kent on Rob’s Blog o’ Stuff and found the link to a review by SFFWorld.

I don’t know why but I’m really excited by stories that mix historic events with fantastical elements though not ships and dragons…

Mark Yon’s review describes it as, ‘Think of it as Doctor Zhivago meets Bram Stoker’s Dracula in Napoleonic Russia.’  Definitely sounds different!

Here’s what the synopsis says,

Preferring to work alone, and at night, the twelve prove brutally, shockingly effective against the French. But one amongst the Russians, Aleksei Ivanovich Danilov, is unnerved by the Oprichniki’s ruthlessness…as he comes to understand the true, horrific nature of these strangers, he wonders at the nightmare they’ve unleashed in their midst..
