Well I bit the bullet and ordered the first two volumes of Absolute Sandman by the wonderful Neil Gaiman. As the book is a class above anything that I own I thought it deserves it’s own special.
On the pic above you might notice a not inconsiderable dent, which hopefully will be sorted when a replacement copy arrives.
The Stephen King novel is a standard UK hardback so you can see that when they say oversized they mean OVERSIZED.

Not long till 18 Nov for v.4
Beautiful to behold aren’t they.
I bought v.3 last month; garnering a few grins, and many gapes, from the way I was stroking the book for ages while debating whether to live on baked beans for a couple of weeks. I kid you not ;D
Once it was in my hands though, there was only one inevitable outcome.
Shame yours came in a bit bumped … hope you don’t wait long for the replacement.
Great book p0rn!
Wow–these are things of beauty. I have been trying not to buy nicer editions of books I already own, but these… Shit, you’re going to bankrupt me.
Absolute Sandman edition is drop-dead gorgeous.
Like other people I would like to buy them but I can’t.
My wife would kill me. She doesn’t like to eat baked beans for several months.
To be fair I was supposed to get Vol 1. at Christmas but it couldn’t be found for love nor money and I’ve only ever seen it actually in-stock on Amazon.com but the last time was ages ago.
When it appeared a couple of weeks ago I took a deep breath and ordered it! I’m hiding the credit card bills from now on….
The next question is who can persuade to get me Vol 3 and 4??
Ooh Ooh, ::jumping up & down, flagging arms:: I’ll persuade you
Seriously, they are beautiful to own … and to be fair, you’ll reread these regularly and get more from the experience each time. And, well you deserve it with your appreciation of GREAT books … don’t let anyone tell you different Okay
)
And, the quality of these editions as well as content … thick pages, larger panels, beautifully inked, and not forgetting the extras … well, nuff said.
I recently bought signed posters of The Library of Dream from Todd Klein’s site (and another signed poster story Before You Read This which I managed to get a first edition of just in the nick of time). Lucky for this fangirl.
Anything by Gaiman is just pure class. All of it. In a nutshell. All.
Go on … treat yourself. Oh, and most big Bookshops will import from the States anyway … where do you think my preorder for Vol 4 is coming from
). And, it’s arrived earlier than the 18th. Woot. Just need to find time to collect it …
Keep Smiling.
Thought I’d clue you in on the gorgeous extras in vol 3 as it’s in front of me …

I’m going to use my bestest bestest hint dropping voice for Christmas if not I AM definitely going to get them – maybe not until the near year though… my credit card is taking a hammering as it is.
But I’m hoping that you’ve persuaded a few more people to part with some cash!!!
Thank you
