Request: What would you ask?

I’ve been offered an interview and I’m a little nervous. I’ve got a few ideas for questions but I was wondering:

What do you think makes an author interview interesting? Or vice versa, what makes a bad one?

Any thoughts?

Thanks both. I've just submitted my questions. I've tried to focus on what's makes their book stand out for them and I'm looking forward to the answers.

So look for my first interview soon.

The big one is try to ask interesting questions about the author's work. Don't ask all the same questions that that author has probably received (You can ask some of the same ones, but you should really dig into the author's writing, because that's what we're reading it for anyway).

    But that's my opinion. :P

  • I think that it has to be pretty much unique to that author. I've seen some interviews about the place and the same sorts of questions are asked time and again, which really doesn't help. I think it's always good to ask about the book they've just released, perhaps a questions or two about old/future books? Apart from that I'm not too sure...
