Where have you been?
Well most of this week has been taken up with the car, which is currently sitting in a compound in Cardiff never to return. This is after some mindless idiot (to put it more than politely) decided they wanted to remove my car from where it was parked without the assistance of the keys. And unsurprising the car didn’t move.
So that’s been in my thoughts a lot.
Though more excitingly I’m exploring the idea of writing a novel. I’ve written short fiction, poetry, plays, but never a novel. And to be honest I’m not sure where to start. I have found when writing plays that structuring and outlining works to bind everything together. So I’m going to write to a structure, or at least try. I have had a few ideas for a novels in the past but they wonder around and then fall flat on there face. So I’m working on ideas. Not that I’m going to share the ideas or the progress that I’ve made or am making.
But this is a blog? A web blog? A log of what’s happening so why not include what you’re writing? I don’t think me saying wrote two lines today or I think this is shite is going to be very interesting. The other thing is that I’m not convienced that writing about the progress of a novel is going to make someone want to read it any more than if they’d read a review or found out about a book via word of mouth after it’s written. Is a blog a good way of selling a novel after you’ve writtne it? Again I’m not sure.
I’m not sure about blogging in general at the moment. Though I think that has more to do with general overload, which wans’t helped when I read a blog post where someone thought that reading 40 novels a year is good going. I think I’m going to struggle to read 40 novels this year. Especially if I’m contimplating writing novel, trying to improve my drawing skills, trying to read more, catch up with the TV series I can’t not watch like Heroes, Supernatural, The Dresden Files, and Jericho.
Oh, and I’ve got to find a new car and the money to pay for it - my insurance on the old one isn’t going to come close to getting something that isn’t a rust bucket.
I’m also behind on reading for work, and I’ve got stuff to for that.
Gah - how do people write a novel and live any sort of life???
I think I’ll just stick on the X-Box and rot instead.
